College Counseling for Bay Area Families
Bay Area roots, a personal relationship, and independent college admissions counseling for grades 9 through 12. All of our work together is virtual.
Who this is for
A familiar starting point for a new process.
I'm Tali Levy, founder of LectureBound. My practice has roots in the Bay Area, and I work with families across the United States. Some parents are navigating American college admissions for the first time. Others went through it themselves and are surprised by how much has changed. Either way, you can start with questions, even if your student does not yet know what they want to study.
I work with students in grades 9 through 12, including families joining later in high school. The relationship works best when a student is willing to be honest with me and do their own work, and parents can support the process without taking it over. You can learn more about my background and the practice before we talk.
A free 30-minute introductory call gives us room to discuss where your student is and whether working together feels right.
What guidance includes
One relationship across the decisions ahead.
The comprehensive package connects the different parts of high school and college planning. We work on building the college list, course planning, and activity strategy in the context of the student in front of us.
As applications approach, the work includes essay development, application strategy and timing, and steady family communication. The Services page explains each part and how the package is organized. The aim is a college that fits your student, with honest expectations throughout.
Working virtually
Work directly with me, wherever you are.
The practice is deliberately virtual. Bay Area families work with me in the same way as families elsewhere in the country: through an ongoing counseling relationship, with email, text, or a scheduled call between meetings.
Check-ins become more frequent as junior year approaches and the work intensifies through senior year. Parents are partners, and I carry the information, deadlines, and hard conversations so they can focus on supporting their student. My Philosophy page explains the working rhythm and how I think about the family's role.
Questions from Bay Area families
What to know before reaching out.
- Do you meet families in person?
- All counseling is virtual, for Bay Area families and families across the United States. Read more about working virtually.
- Do we need to know which colleges we want already?
- You do not need to have everything figured out to begin. Developing the college list is part of our work, guided by the student's interests and fit.
- Can we join after ninth grade?
- Yes, when I have space. I work with students at different points in high school, seniors included. Read more about when to start, and ask me about your student's timing on the introductory call.
- Are you affiliated with a school or college?
- I am fully independent, with no institutional affiliations or commissions. You can read my credentials and approach to the work on About.
